Biography

Dr. Paul Poirier is a professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Laval University and frequently trains students in research and teaches residents at the University.

Dr. Poirier is a cardiologist with a focus on diabetes and obesity that has practiced for over twenty years. He began at the University Institute of Cardiology and Pulmonology of Quebec City in 2000, and assumed medical responsibility for the prevention/cardiac rehabilitation program at this facility.

Dr. Poirier many research interests and has worked on a number of basic and clinical science studies and local, national and international clinical research projects. His research was funded by the Quebec Heart Institute Fund, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Quebec Health Research Fund (FRSQ) and the Diabetes Association of Canada.
