Cindy has joined Heart & Stroke with 10+ years biomedical engineer experience, specializing in molecular diagnostics for pharmacogenetic and detection of infectious disease. As the Director, Data and Knowledge Management and Heart Program, Cindy providesoverall strategic leadership, direction, advice and integration across the Foundation’s data and knowledge management and heart-related initiatives. Cindy’s focus is on building meaningful collaborations, boosting public awareness on cardiovascular health, and contextualizing data and knowledge to our constituents. She currently serves on several external committees such as CanVECTOR external advisory board, Canadian Cardiovascular Congress advisory committee, and CanROC publication committee.
Building on her passion to applying an integrated approach to improve health outcomes, prior to joining Heart & Stroke, Cindy worked in marketing, project management, research, and product development at Millennium Research Group, Luminex Corporation and Xagenic with increasing responsibilities over the years. She had successfully taken global projects such as FDA and Health Canada-cleared Luminex’s xTAG and NxTAG molecular diagnostic products from ideation to commercialization. Cindy has a B.Sc. (Life Sciences) and B.Sc.E (Electrical Engineering) from Queen’s University, a M.A.Sc (Genetic Circuit Design) and a Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Research from University of Toronto.
